Join us for our 2012 FREE Super Saturday event, featuring fun and educational hands-on activities that celebrate the joy of invention and the do-it-yourself spirit that have shaped our history. Free admission to the museum all day (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
On Saturday, April 28, 2012, more than 300 people flocked to ATHM to “Take Flight” at our second of our free “Super Saturday” events. Kids and adults thrilled in flying a plane with the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire's flight simulator, then expressed their own style and creativity in creating and flying their own mini-kites. They learned about high-tech materials used in modern airplanes, thanks to the team from the Experimental Aviation Association, and viewed a presentation of hot air balloon photography from enthusiast Barry Nation.

The museum was filled with soaring airplanes as dozens of kids entered a paper airplane contest, with prizes for the farthest flying and most accuracy. They met children's author, Elizabeth R. Cogswell, who read from and signed copies of her book, "A Lamb's Life: A Year in the Life of a Lamb on a Farm".
Our guests challenged their detective skills with a scavenger hunt through the museum, then enjoyed a free guided tour through our special exhibition, Aloft! The Wonder of Kites, a fascinating exhibit that ranges from whimsical entertainment to innovative science, celebrating the history, the significance, and the fun of kites – the world’s most famous and functional tethered aircraft.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be “Super Saturday” without lots of pictures taken with Lulu the Lamb, ATHM’s lovable woolly mascot.
